The same formulas the calculator uses, written out for $25,000 in monthly card sales at a $35 average ticket. Interchange-plus cost = interchange + card-network fees + the Renegade Payments markup, each charged as a percentage of volume plus a per-transaction fee.
In person: Square Free plan vs Renegade Payments interchange-plus
Inputs: $25,000 monthly card volume ÷ $35 average ticket = 714.29 transactions per month.
| Cost line | Rate | Monthly cost |

Dual pricing is not available for online payments, so this example uses interchange-plus.
This is an estimate based on an average card mix. Interchange and card-network fees are passed through at cost and vary with the cards your customers use, so your actual costs will differ. For exact numbers, upload a recent processing statement for a free line-by-line analysis.
Competitor rates are each provider's published standard US rates as of October 2026: Square Free plan 2.6% + $0.15 in person and 3.3% + $0.30 online; Stripe standard pricing 2.7% + $0.05 in person and 2.9% + $0.30 online; Toast Traditional Payment Plan 2.49% + $0.15 in person and 3.5% + $0.15 online; Clover Basic plan on clover.com 2.6% + $0.10 in person and 3.5% + $0.10 online. Toast and Clover publish one card-not-present (keyed-in) rate, which is used for online payments. Monthly software, hardware and payout fees are not included.
Interchange (estimate): 1.80% + $0.10 per transaction in person and 2.10% + $0.10 online, Mastercard's published Enhanced Value consumer credit rates (U.S., effective April 17, 2026). Visa Signature and Traditional Rewards credit cards are 1.65% + $0.10 in person and 2.04%–2.05% + $0.10 online (effective April 18, 2026). Debit cards cost less and premium rewards or business cards cost more, so your actual interchange depends on your card mix.
Card-network fees (estimate): 0.15% + $0.025 per transaction, rounded up from Visa and Mastercard assessments of 0.13%–0.14% of volume plus about $0.02 per authorization (Visa Acquirer Processing Fee, Mastercard Network Access and Brand Usage fee) as listed in acquirer pass-through fee schedules. Visa's monthly Fixed Acquirer Network Fee and event-based fees such as chargebacks are not included.
Renegade Payments pricing: interchange + 0.20% + $0.08 per transaction in person and interchange + 0.30% + $0.15 online, with interchange and card-network fees passed through at cost. Dual pricing applies to in-person payments; card-paying customers cover the processing cost.

How Dual Pricing Works
Three simple steps. Your prices stay the same. Your processing costs drop to zero.
What is interchange-plus?
The fairest pricing model in the industry. We strip away the hidden fees and show you the true cost of every transaction.
The Math is Transparent
Square would charge you $2.70 for the same transaction. That's 30% more for the exact same service.
Flat RateCommon
Square and Stripe charge ~2.6%–2.9% on everything. On a debit card that costs them 0.5%, they pocket the 2.1%–2.4% difference. You're subsidizing their massive profit margins.
Tiered PricingOpaque
Transactions get bucketed into "qualified" or "non-qualified" tiers at the processor's discretion. Guess which tier most transactions end up in? The most expensive one.
Interchange-PlusThe Winner
The actual cost set by card networks plus a small, fixed markup. Predictable, transparent, and always the lowest possible rate for your business.
